What is summer for a winter competitor? In an organized annual plan it is called the GENERAL PREPARATION PHASE. Athletes of all winter disciplines have a simliar focus:
- Improve working capacity
- More aerobic endurance
- Increase physical strength
- Develop flexibility
- Evaluate and adjust diet habits and nutrition
- Practice and refine mental skills
Athletes should prepare a plan that addresses teh above with a primary focus towards PHYSICAL STRENGTH and AEROBIC ENDURANCE. Make a plan with your athlete team: you--your parents--and your coach. Use some or all of these programs to plan and support you in your summer training plan.
